Dark Matter No.6: The Phantom Footsteps

I am still in awe of this paranormal experience. I had no idea this sort of activity could even happen until it did. The night was chilly, with a smattering of snow on the ground and windchill down to the single digits. In the 1840's Shaker Heritage Society, myself and one other were packing up the camera equipment after hours of investigating. The last thing we tried was to see if something would happen in the last 10 minutes we were there.

We stood still on the landing of the second floor, surrounded on 3 sides by doorways to offices and an original wood staircase in front of us. The stairs are broken up by a small landing halfway up, and each section is only several stairs. The creakiness that every single step possesses is indication enough that there is someone standing on the boards, but to hear each of those creaks and pops while not a single visible human stood there? I can describe it as nothing less than stunning.

I heard the entire thing from start to finish, encompassing all of maybe 12 seconds. Each tread of the steps creaked on its own, as though someone walked up them slow and carefully, stopping only momentarily on the middle landing. I'd never witnessed that before - footsteps, a few, yes. But full on heavy steps, one at a time, in front of me? With the lights on? NEVER. I am left, to this day, astounded at this phenomenon and that I was able to witness it.

Thanks for reading, enjoy the video!
